Neumann KK 133 Omnidirectional Microphone Capsule
The Neumann KK 133 omnidirectional microphone capsule is designed for the KM A/D modular system and is intended for use with the KM A analog output stage. It is a diffuse-field equalized pressure transducer with a free-field boost of approximately 4–5 dB around 12 kHz.
At the heart of the capsule is an ultra-thin titanium diaphragm mounted just a few microns from a titanium backplate—a solution that recalls the tradition of the famous M 50 and M 150, offering extremely fast transient response and highly accurate reproduction. The removable diffraction sphere smoothes out the upper-mid range, while the pressure principle ensures a linear bass response with no proximity effect.
The KK 133 nx is particularly suited for orchestras, choirs, piano, organ, and chamber music, as well as spaced stereo microphone setups and main arrays such as the Decca Tree. The Nextel black finish makes it low-profile in concert halls and video shoots, an important feature for live and broadcast productions.
Paired with the KM A, the capsule offers a self-noise level of 15 dB-A and a maximum SPL of 138 dB, extended to 148 dB using the output stage's preattenuation. It can be detached from the output stage using system cables, extensions, and swivel joints. It comes with a wooden case and pairs ideally with the KM A nx.
