Neumann KK 120 Figure-8 Microphone Capsule
The Neumann KK 120 is a side-addressed pressure gradient transducer with a figure-8 characteristic (single 16 mm diaphragm). Sound field components reach the diaphragm directly, making frequency response and sensitivity identical for 0° and 180°. It is ideal for MS-stereo recording.
Compared to the KM 100, the modular KM A/D system uses smaller passive capsules and advanced electronics, offering reduced self-noise, extended dynamic range, and high electromagnetic immunity.
The modular design allows the capsule to be detached and placed up to 100 m (330 ft) from the output stage using specialized cables, extensions, or swivel joints. Both analog and digital output stages share the same dimensions (diameter: 22 mm, length: 93 mm) and use identical accessories.
