Il Tascam DR-70D è un registratore audio compatto che permette agli utilizzatori di camere DSLR di aggiungere registrazioni audio di qualità molto alta oltre alla ripresa video. Il registratore può essere montato direttamente tra un treppiede e la camera oppure sulla parte superiore della camera mantenendo contenute le dimensioni.
Con i suoi due microfoni interni, il DR-70D è pronto all'istante per l'utilizzo in situazioni standard. In aggiunta, fornisce quattro connettori combo XLR/TRS jack che possono essere usati per registrare quattro canali audio con una qualità del suono eccellente. Grazie all'uscita stereo dedicata, il segnale può essere registrato anche nell'ingresso audio della camera per facilitare il montaggio del materiale registrato in combinazione con la funzione slate tone del registratore.
